The SADC Regional Laboratory Association (SRLA) is a self-sustaining organisation whose goal is to improve the reliability of test results supplied by the conformity assessment bodies in the SADC Region.
In developing the Quality Infrastructure (QI) of the South African Development Community (SADC) member states (MS), 11 out of 15 SADC MS have formally established independent laboratory associations and who now perform an active role supporting laboratory activities in their own countries.
The SRLA aims to improve the collaboration, technical and managerial skills of laboratory personnel in the region and ultimately to provide a mechanism to help increase trade by assisting the MS Laboratories to achieve accreditation to international standards and thus reducing the cost of trade and ensuring access in foreign markets.
